Soft skills are skills without certifications and beyond quantifications that include behavioural arrangements, organisational etiquettes, clarity of communication and personal initiations. Better soft skills play a major positive role in growth of people with average minds, for average is better when equipped with positive attitude.

Age of artificial intelligence has put humans on a task to reinvent their approach and the way in which they act at workplace. There shall never be two facts about intact relevance of humans as technical beings and the point that human itself is architect of whole automation industry remains an absolute truth. But at a time when machines do most of the work, as a restless being that seeks anything all the time, it is for the mankind to return to its basics to remain competent as well as to continue its growth.

In the job market, there has always been a greater push on professionalism and technical skills or skills acquired in academic circles or colleges. Eligible candidates are given a chance but at the end of the day some unspoken but highly significant skills come in handy that differentiate two employees, one more successful and better qualified to be a future leader and other who finds it difficult to be absorbed in new work environment and struggles to secure a place of its own in new organization. This is about soft skills— skills without certifications and beyond quantifications that include behavioural arrangements, organisational etiquettes, clarity of communication and personal initiations.

In practical sense, soft skills are application of hard skills, an orator’s fine command over languages is relevant only with its ability to connect with listener for example. There is no scarce of products and services in marketplace but not all get profited by equal amounts, though no significant change in product and service quality is implied. Better soft skills play a major positive role in growth of people with average minds, for average is better when equipped with personal attributes such as problem solving, ethics, emotional intelligence and positive attitude.

In comparison to its value, the status of soft skills’ in organisational build up is often belittled for they are being considered as universal. This misconception is detrimental to organisational health, as it negatively impacts organisation’s customer retention ability, staff efficiency and team work prospects.

Good news is that bringing fortune on our side is not that intractable an act, all that is needed is acknowledgement of the fact concerning worth of soft skills at workplace. While training, newcomers to an organisation, equal emphasis on soft skills is warranted. Not much is needed for the purpose. A healthy workplace environment that keenly adheres to its ethic code can do the trick. A democratic work culture that prioritises team work, enables intra organisational communication and sensitive with regards to staff management relations, exemplifies ideal home to enrich soft skills of beginners, and in turn this kind of environment itself strengthens basic skill set of whole workforce.

Being professional is much more than expertise, knowledge and talent, it is about how you present all of these. Hard skills plus soft skills make up for a professional way, and on the path there are no stops but success.
