Telangana

Telangana is a state in the Southern region of India. On 2ndJune, 2014 Telangana was separated from Andhra Pradesh as a new 29th state of India, with Hyderabad as its capital. Telangana is situated on the Deccan Plateau and landlocked state surrounded by the states of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh to the north, Karnataka to the west, and Andhra Pradesh to the south and east. Charminar, Golconda Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Chowmahalla Palace, Falaknuma Palace and Bhongir Fort, are some of the monuments in the state. Some notable sportspersons from the state are Mohammad Azharuddin, V.V.S Laxman, Saina Nehwal and Gagan Narang, as well as Sania Mirza.

Education Status

According to the Census 2011, Telangana has a literacy rate of 67.66% (male literacy rate 75.56% and female literacy rate 59.74%).

Telangana has multiple institutes of higher education universities along with numerous primary and secondary schools. The state is home to a number of institutes, which impart higher education. The Department of Higher Education deals with matters relating to education at various levels in the State. The Government has established Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) in 2008 to cater to the educational needs of the gifted rural youth of Telangana. The higher education includes many colleges, universities and research institutes providing professional education in the fields of arts, humanities, science, engineering, law, medicine, business, and veterinary sciences, with undergraduate and post graduation.
